The story behind Shemy Living Studio
I'm Michelle Moura Doherty, founder of the studio, interior designer, UX leader, accessibility expert, and sustainability practitioner.
Based in Donegal, with roots in Brazil, I studied post graduation at the Interior Design Academy of Ireland and founded Shemy Living Studio to bring sustainable, accessible, modern and beautiful design to homeowners and SMEs who deserve better than the fragmented, expensive options currently on offer.
My design language draws from Japandi principles, biophilic thinking, smart and high-tech choices, and a deep respect for natural materials: warmed by a Brazilian sensibility and grounded in the wild landscape of the Irish northwest. Every space I create is designed to feel calm, intentional, and alive.
Behind the studio is over 20 years of User Experience Design leadership, 7 years in Ireland's sustainable energy sector, and a lifelong commitment to accessibility as I have loved ones in the autism spectrum, and I was also recognised in 2016 when I won both the Judge's Choice and People's Choice awards at the NDA Hackathon on Usability for Disability. I bring that same rigour, empathy, and design thinking to every project I work on and I have best local partnership with best contractors and suppliers.
I am also building EcoAccess AI, an AI-powered platform to make interior design more accessible and sustainable, regardless of budget or ability. If you'd like a home or workspace that works beautifully for the people who use it, you're already in the right place.
